Margaret’s Background Margaret has a Bachelor of Music Education degree in piano and voice from Northwestern University . She was introduced to the harp while at Northwestern by her friend, Honor Conway, who was a harp student of Edward Druzinski, principle harpist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Margaret is also a trained singer, and sang with Gloria Musicae and Key Chorale. She sang back up with Andy Williams at Van Wezel. Margaret is a former special education music teacher at Sarasota’s Oak Park School where she taught for nine years. She is certified in both music and varying exceptionalities. Margaret is the author of a book on music teaching for home school children titled, Sing! Play! Praise!, a Complete Music Course for Homeschoolers. She is also a composer of new age style piano music and has two recordings of piano and harp music titled, “Listening to the Angels Sing”, and “Harp, Ancient and Holy.” Margaret has been the Organist and Director of Music at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on Siesta Key for 14 years. In addition to playing the organ and directing the choirs, she plays the harp and is the soloist for the services. Margaret lives in the Sarasota area with her husband, portrait artist, Chuck Barber, and their teenage son, Benjamin Germain Barber. 941-429-5381 |
